I first came across JR when I was reading a Juxtapoz magazine last January. Needless to say I was an instant fan, and let’s just say he has a rather unforgettable style.
JR is a photographer by trade, but has taken his images to places (and sizes!) that are representing a radically creative medium to share his message. In his most recent exhibit – “Women are Heroes” – he is going on a worldwide tour to highlight the importance of women across all cultures.
Their project website reads:
The Women project wants to underline their pivotal role and to highlight their dignity by shooting them in their daily lives and posting them on the walls of their country.
On the other hand, by posting the same images of these women in Western countries, the project allows everyone to feel concerned by their condition and connects, through art, the two different worlds.
