Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have been on a mission to recruit as many billionaires (yes, that’s with a “b”) as possible to give away the majority of their wealth to philanthropy. One could easily hear this and negatively point out that they would still possess millions of dollars after they donated, however, I’m choosing not to focus on that.

I think it’s pretty awesome and if nothing else I believe it’s a step in the right direction. I especially appreciate this quote from Buffett on the campaigns website GIVINGPLEDGE.ORG:

“First, my pledge: More than 99% of my wealth will go to philanthropy during my lifetime or at death. Measured by dollars, this commitment is large. In a comparative sense, though, many individuals give more to others every day.”

Wouldn’t you love to sit in on one of those meetings?
