I have always loved public speaking. Equal to the thrill I get from speaking to a crowd has been the travel opportunities it has afforded me. I have seen parts of the U.S. that I may never have seen in my lifetime — I spoke to students in Missouri, traveled to the backwoods of Mississippi and gave a commencement speech in Louisiana to name a few.

Even more rare are the opportunities when my family gets to travel with me and partake in these adventures in unison. That was the magical thing that happened last month when I traveled to Alberta, Canada to speak at Socality Camp

Not only did we get to spend five days with an incredible group of creatives and entrepreneurs, but the setting was nothing short of breathtaking. Tucked away in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains our basecamp (as well as everywhere we went) was entirely engulfed in vibrant yellow desiduous trees. Being a California transplant with Pacific Northwest roots, this trip had me lamenting about the seasons we no longer experience.

Overall, it was an incredible trip and we were so honored to have been there with good friends from Socality and their partner Travel Alberta
