sing-along sunday (#76) – tom petty

March 26, 2017 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments

As per this instagram post, “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers has been stuck in my head all week.

Not to mention, all of the rain we have been experiencing in Southern California is making this place bloom like crazy. What used to be brown hills are now lush green landscapes covered with wildflowers.

spoken word + leon bridges

July 24, 2015 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments

I love everything about this new project. VENUE is “collaborative works created at the intersection of music and visual arts”. In the inaugural installment, a video captures a beautiful spoken word piece and one-take rendition of “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges.

Can’t wait to follow along as this project unfolds. Nice work VSCO!

sing-along sunday (#74) – seu jorge

June 14, 2015 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments

This isn’t a new album, but I have been absolutely loving it recently. It was hard to choose a favorite song from the David Bowie covers performed in Portuguese by the Brazilian artists Seu Jorge (many of which were featured in Wes Anderson’s movie The Life Aquatic). “Life On Mars?” was the winner in the end, and yes those are the only lyrics I understand in the whole song, but the rendition is beautiful nonetheless.

Have a listen and then track down the whole album at your local record store or on one of those online music streaming services. 🙂

sing-along sunday (#73) – two gallants

April 19, 2015 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments

The San Francisco based rock duo Two Gallants haven’t released much new music in recent years, but if you never taken a journey through their discography it’s definitely worth a pass. Let this single be an introduction to their melodic and emotion-filled style.

Enjoy!

sing-along sunday (#72) – ages and ages

April 5, 2015 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments

What’s my criteria for a “sing-along sunday” selection? Well, if the song ends and I find myself singing it throughout the rest of the day, that’s a pretty good lead. If you need further proof, just listen to the below song by Ages and Ages and you will easily understand my selection process.

I recommend turning it up a few notches…

I believe that all aspects of our lives and experiences can serve as inspiration. Some things expose our passions and gifts, while others serve as an example of what not to become.  Either way we can learn to live increasingly inspired lives.
