sing along sunday vance joy

Can’t get this song out of my head. I’m currently on a road trip down the California coast and this song has been played multiple (multiple) times.

Enjoy!

sing-along sunday (#67) – prince

May 18, 2014 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments

I have the distinct honor of DJing a friends wedding next weekend, so I am in the process of diving back into my music archives and also adding new music to playlists to be sure that I create the best dance environment possible.

It’s a rare occasion when DJ Koko (yes, that’s my self appointed DJ name) makes an appearance — actually this will make the 3rd wedding ever — but I’m excited to be a part of their big day. However, I need your help…

Please suggest some of your favorite songs to dance to so I can include them in the line-up!

the very best of prince

bad covers of good songs (#02)

February 11, 2014 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments
bad covers get lucky

DAFT PUNK – “GET LUCKY”

Daft Punk had an amazing year. The release of their highly anticipated album had people buzzing all 2013, and it truly did not disappoint. An extremely successful award season — winning the coveted ‘Album of the Year’ — affirmed their place in music within 2013 and for the history books.

Their hit song Get Lucky also won record of the year, but that hasn’t stopped people from doing their best to ruin it… including the Russian Police. Here are a few of the favorite (least favorite?) bad covers of Get Lucky I found around the internet.

This is the second installment of ‘bad covers of good songs’, you can see the first one HERE.

are you creatively satisfied?

September 4, 2013 by Kohl Crecelius No Comments
The Great Discontent - creatively satisfied?

That is the question. And it is shortly followed by this one: is it even possible to be creatively satisfied? For some, it should always be pursued, yet never attained. Others approach their work with a calming contentment that supersedes their results.

Regardless of what your personal stance is the emotions and expressions in this short video say much more than the words. And it is my belief that the important part is that you are asking yourself (and those around you) this question. It causes you to wrestle with the idea and come to your own conclusion.

So… what’s yours?

jay z announces new album

Thankfully, he just won’t stop…

This video just got me stoked. Referencing July 4th, Jay Z announces new album, titled Magna Carta Holy Grail. Look past the odd integration of this video as a Samsung add, to see the collection of people in the room and to hear a minute sampling of a couple hooks.

Can’t wait.

I believe that all aspects of our lives and experiences can serve as inspiration. Some things expose our passions and gifts, while others serve as an example of what not to become.  Either way we can learn to live increasingly inspired lives.
