I came across this song while listening to a related artist radio on Spotify and it has turned me onto one of my favorite new artists – The Bones of J.R. Jones. Not only is his melodic and spirit-filled music captivating, but I was floored to find out that he is actually a one. man. band.
Have a listen. Then, go find the rest of his music online.
I love being surprised by good music. My wife and I attended The Bluegrass Situation in early October — a two-day music festival hosted at the theater inside the new ACE Hotel in Downtown LA. Originally having gone to see a few favorite bands (Blind Pilot & Lord Huron), we walked away enjoying the opening act most of all.
Shakey Graves was the standout from the night and I haven’t stopped listening to them since. Listen to the song below and you’ll know why.
I have the distinct honor of DJing a friends wedding next weekend, so I am in the process of diving back into my music archives and also adding new music to playlists to be sure that I create the best dance environment possible.
It’s a rare occasion when DJ Koko (yes, that’s my self appointed DJ name) makes an appearance — actually this will make the 3rd wedding ever — but I’m excited to be a part of their big day. However, I need your help…
Please suggest some of your favorite songs to dance to so I can include them in the line-up!
I’ve said it before and I will say it again… I love to see people using their unique skills to pursue their dreams and offer something to better the world. Some form of art, a business, a smile, you name it.
A few weeks ago I was honored to get to see my friend Brian and his band — Barcelona — play in Southern California. Their latest album (which is actually 3 smaller EPs that create one full story) is a very different sound than they have had in the past, but I dug it. It’s smart, fun, and emotional as it explores the overall theme of LOVE.
Their performance was amazing (see them if you can!), but for the time being you will have to settle with listening to their music online…
