God bless the online radio streaming services that exist today (can we pause and be thankful for these beautiful people who came up with these algorithms?!). As an artist, I realize it’s a double edged sword to participate in online music services, but on the positive side, I love discovering new music I would have never otherwise known about.
Bhi Bhiman is one such artist who I’ve recently come across and the song below — “Guttersnipe” — was the original song that sparked my interest. I hope you enjoy it!
This isn’t a new album, but I have been absolutely loving it recently. It was hard to choose a favorite song from the David Bowie covers performed in Portuguese by the Brazilian artists Seu Jorge (many of which were featured in Wes Anderson’s movie The Life Aquatic). “Life On Mars?” was the winner in the end, and yes those are the only lyrics I understand in the whole song, but the rendition is beautiful nonetheless.
Have a listen and then track down the whole album at your local record store or on one of those online music streaming services. 🙂
What’s my criteria for a “sing-along sunday” selection? Well, if the song ends and I find myself singing it throughout the rest of the day, that’s a pretty good lead. If you need further proof, just listen to the below song by Ages and Ages and you will easily understand my selection process.
I recommend turning it up a few notches…
“Divisionary (Do The Right Thing)” – Ages and Ages
I love being surprised by good music. My wife and I attended The Bluegrass Situation in early October — a two-day music festival hosted at the theater inside the new ACE Hotel in Downtown LA. Originally having gone to see a few favorite bands (Blind Pilot & Lord Huron), we walked away enjoying the opening act most of all.
Shakey Graves was the standout from the night and I haven’t stopped listening to them since. Listen to the song below and you’ll know why.
I have the distinct honor of DJing a friends wedding next weekend, so I am in the process of diving back into my music archives and also adding new music to playlists to be sure that I create the best dance environment possible.
It’s a rare occasion when DJ Koko (yes, that’s my self appointed DJ name) makes an appearance — actually this will make the 3rd wedding ever — but I’m excited to be a part of their big day. However, I need your help…
Please suggest some of your favorite songs to dance to so I can include them in the line-up!
