This has been a recent “go to” album for just about any occasion when I’m not sure what else to play. Cayucas — and their first full length album release Bigfoot — is great for hosting people at our house or playing at the office for the staff. Easy to listen to and melodic.
If you have read my blog at all, you know that I don’t claim to be a music critic, but I share what I have been into recently. I have little offer, other than to tell you that I dig these guys and I think you should check them out 🙂
“Cayucos” – Cayucas
Of Monsters And Men are another recent favorite of mine. The Icelandic indie/folk group have a great full sound and I love the guy and girl co-singers, especially in this song, “Little Talks”.
Can anyone help me with this… what is with insanely good music coming from Iceland?
“Little Talks” – Of Monsters And Men
The Seattle-based band, Fleet Foxes, stole my heart (and 3 months of my car music listening) last winter with this seasonally appropriate song, “White Winter Hymnal”. The unique style and amazing harmonies that I have come to love about this band was first introduced to me through this single. For weeks after hearing it for the first time I couldn’t stop singing…
“I was following the…
I was following the…
I was following the…”
As we venture further into the heart of Winter (and the frigid mid-50s temperatures of Southern California) I find myself throwing the Fleet Foxes on in increasing measures. Join with me and sip on delicious coffee while taking in Sing-along Sunday no. 7.
I was hoping to never post back to back “Sing-along Sundays”, yet here I am doing exactly that. Woops. Such is life.
Enjoy this melodic and catchy tune from a talented little lady named Ingrid Michaelson. Sorry to get sappy with you all, but my wife and I love this song and used to shout it at the top of our lungs as we were driving across Washington state visiting family. Point being, if a song’s sing-along-ability is my favorite characteristic I would say it’s ability to remind you of certain memories if number 2. For our purposes, we’ll call it nostalgic-ness.
Anyway, this song is called “You and I”. Grab a partner and belt it out. Or, do what I like to do sing the low and falsetto parts.
