…And teaching others to do the same
The other morning I took my two boys (ages 4 and 1) on a mission to find a new skatepark. When my wife is working we often skateboard, and I had heard through the grapevine about a new skatepark opening in a neighboring city. However, no amount of internet research could tell me the exact address or whether this skatepark was open so we went to see for ourselves.
After circling a construction site of a new sports complex I caught a glimpse of a someone skateboarding and discovered the skatepark. Signs all around the it, placed on the fence that enclosed the park, all read “PARK CLOSED”. And yet there were 3 guys skating it.
“Was I about to figure out how to hop a fence with a 4 year old and a 1 year old in order to skate here? Is this setting a good example? Am I going to ruin the vibe for these other skaters when I show up with the little ones?” You know… dad thoughts.
