I thought this was a really fun idea. A friend was turning an undisclosed (yet significant) number of years old and his wife wanted to do something special for him. She had all our friends write a haiku (or seven) for him for his birthday. I enjoyed writing them as much as I enjoyed getting to hear what everyone else wrote.

I just wanted to share in case you needed any ideas for making someone feel special on their birthday. Below are a few of the haikus I wrote. You can visit Sean’s website for context to the poems…

#1)
Hello Sean Woolsey
It is your birthday today
Happy birthday dude.

#2)
Sawdust fell softly
On the cold studio floor
A new table born.

#3)
A lofty goal set
The scissors hidden away
Ponytail achieved.

#4)
“I’m going to make
Furniture for a living,”
Said no one ever.
